About Smile Elements

At Smile Elements, our goal is not only to treat patients, but to build relationships. Therefore, we acknowledge and recognize that we are not simply treating malocclusions – we are treating people. In an effort to enhance your "orthodontic experience" we focus on functional jaw orthopedics (without the use of headgear), and use Damon self-ligating brackets system; typically allowing us to treat patients with shorter treatment times and fewer office visits.

Dr. Hisham Badawi

Dr Hisham Badawi did his DDS degree at Jordan University graduating class of 1998, he then moved to London, England. Dr. Badawi joined the University of London’s Eastman Dental Institute (the most prestigious European dental school), there he Obtained his masters in Orthodontics MSc in 2001. In 2002 he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland MOrth RCSEdin.

Dr. Badawi held a teaching position as assistant professor at the University of Manitoba. Before pursuing his research ambitions by joining the Graduate Orthodontic program at the University of Alberta in 2003 to start orthodontic biomechanics research and earn his PhD.

Dr Badawi was the first Canadian Orthodontist to win the American association of Orthodontists Faculty development award in 2005, recognizing his ground breaking research in Orthodontic Biomechanics. Dr. Badawi’s research in orthodontic biomechanics is being cited in clinical presentation and publications worldwide. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Badawi provides consulting services, and research and development services to some of the most prominent companies and manufacturers of orthodontic materials and braces.

Dr. Badawi currently holds a part-time associate professor position at the University of Alberta.

He enjoys Squash, travelling, chess, motor racing and most of all high tech research!

Our Clinic

Finger scan check in

Dolphin Management software allows us to run Smile Elements smooth and efficiently. This system uses the latest in computer technology to coordinate our clinic schedule, maintain your personal information, communicate with your family dentist, organize your financial and insurance information, and facilitate your biometric finger print check-in at each appointment. When our patient arrive, all they have to do is check in at the check in computer using the finger scanner. Using the scan of your finger our system will recognize you and will automatically notify your clinical coordinator that you have arrived.

Patient Education software

Dolphin Aquarium Educational software is an innovation that uses stunning 3-D graphics to demonstrate the common and complex topics that are involved in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. This software allows us to explain all aspects of your treatment; appliance design, oral hygiene and retainer wear.

Office Entertainment

We have one of the most elaborate entertainment systems ever installed in a dental or orthodontic office. Every dental chair has its own dedicated 37” plasma TV. Instead of using headphones, we decided to utilize a new audio technology never before used in dental offices; we use spot light speakers that concentrate all the TV sound on the patients head. The patient sitting in the chair feels as though they are wearing headphones. This technology eliminates the need for headphones which can be a source of contamination in dental offices.

Wi-Fi Internet access

While in our waiting area, you can enjoy our wireless internet access and catch up on your e-mails or just surf the net to pass the time!
